
Pop Top Open 2025 Recap
This year’s Pop Top was played at the Pinecrest Golf Course in Richmond, RI on September 20, 2025. We played under blue sunny skies with the temp in the low 70’s. As usual, the course was in great playing condition. There was a moment of silence for deceased Brothers since last year’s Pop Top and include: Gerry Miller #22, Jim Zimmerman #143, Mugsy McGuire #307, Tok O’Donnell #247, Gary Gumowitz #442, Derek Zhou #1115, Tim Howard #1282. We had 71 golfers who participated in this year’s tournament. For the 11th year in a row, we had a new winning team. The team of Murphy, Peecher, Senberg and Merlino won with a score of -10 under. Second place went to Stapleton, Giardini, Farmer and Deeson with a score of -9 under. The long drive on the 3rd hole went Sean Sutherland and 2nd place went to Paul Merlino. Closest to the pin on the 5th hole was won by Steve Carter, 1ft 10 ½ inches while there was a tie for 2nd place between Brandon Parker and Steve Babiec. The tie breaker was won by Steve on a closest to the pin long putt. After the tournament, we enjoyed an Italian Buffet dinner on the outdoor patio. Many thanks to Glenn Stratton who ran the Pop Top Open for his 4th consecutive year but had to leave early for personal reasons. Andy Marcoux, Ken Fecteau and Joe Hart stepped in for the player registration and giving out gifts and prizes. Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s golf tournament and we hope to see you again in 2026. Next year’s Pop Top Open will be played at the same course on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 10am.
